Ingredients for 1-2-3 Snap Brownies displayed on a white countertop, including a bowl of graham cracker crumbs, a bowl of chocolate chips, can of sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and a bowl of salt.

Graham Cracker Crumbs serve as the base that holds the dessert together, adding a slight crunch and flavor.

Sweetened Condensed Milk is the binding agent, combining all the ingredients and adding a delightful sweetness to the bars. This recipe comes from Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk.

Milk Chocolate and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips add
bursts of chocolate flavor and a satisfying texture.

Unsalted Butter adds richness.

Pure Vanilla Extract adds a floral aroma and enhances the flavor of the other ingredients.

Coarse Sea Salt is the finishing touch that balances the sweetness.

Tips for Making 1-2-3 Snap Brownies

  1. Graham cracker crumbs serve as a substitute for a traditional flour mixture. I buy whole crackers and process them in a food processor.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake. Allow the “brownies” to cool COMPLETELY before cutting into squares. (You can also pop them in the refrigerator once the pan has cooled to cool the “brownies” quickly.)
A can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk sits surrounded by thick, chewy chocolate chip cookie bars sprinkled with sea salt. Some bars are stacked, reminiscent of irresistible 1-2-3 Snap Brownies, and a bowl of chocolate chips is visible in the upper left background on parchment paper.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Substitute chocolate graham crackers for regular graham crackers.
  • Substitute Biscoff cookies or gingersnap cookies for the graham crackers, keeping the weight the same.
  • Add chopped toffee or Heath toffee bits.
  • Add chopped nuts, like pecans or walnuts.
  • White chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips would give these brownies a whole new flavor profile.

Note: If you add additional mix-ins, ensure you swap them for the chocolate chips in the original recipe to keep the quantity the same.

Serving Suggestions

These brownies are delightful on their own when cut into small squares, but they become even more indulgent when they are cut into larger squares and served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding whipped cream or a drizzle of Chocolate Sauce, Chocolate Caramel Sauce, or Caramel Sauce on top.

Two thick 1-2-3 Snap Brownies, packed with chocolate chips, are stacked on parchment paper, with a can of sweetened condensed milk and more bars in the background. The brownies have visible chocolate chips and a slightly crumbly texture.
